Your First Visit

Guidance, Comfort, And Care Designed for You

Visiting an oral surgeon can feel intimidating, especially if you aren’t sure what to expect. With Dr. Slaughter, building trust is a must. He wants you to know that your first consultation is a safe space. It’s where we use our time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and collaborate on a plan that prioritizes your health and comfort.

Dr. Slaughter knows his name may raise an eyebrow, but he’s ready to break down the perception and show you that his name isn’t at all associated with the kind of care he’s ready to provide!

How to Prepare

Complete Your Forms in Advance

Filling out your new patient paperwork before you arrive allows us to streamline your visit and focus our time on understanding your needs.

What to Bring

Please bring the following essentials so we have a complete picture of your health:

  • Your completed new patient forms
  • Insurance card and driver's license
  • A list of current medications
  • Referral details from your dentist

Write Down Your Questions

Your peace of mind is important to us. We encourage you to write down any questions or concerns you have beforehand so we can ensure you leave feeling informed and confident.

What to Expect

1

When you arrive, our friendly front desk team will check you in and get you settled. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to relax before your appointment begins.

2

Our surgical assistant will bring you back to an exam room. If needed, we’ll take X-rays and review your medical history.

3

Dr. Slaughter will then join you for his exam, answer any questions, and collaborate with you on a plan for your treatment. This is an educational conversation, not a sales pitch.

4

Once you and Dr. Slaughter feel great about the plan, we’ll review the estimated costs so that you have clear expectations up front, and then we can get you scheduled.

Preparing for Procedure Day

When it is time for your procedure, we want to ensure a smooth recovery.

  • Make arrangements for someone to take you to and from your procedure.
  • Drink plenty of water the day before your procedure.
  • Avoid eating or drinking for 8 hours prior to your procedure.
  • Read up on all of our pre-op instructions here.
  • Take a deep breath! You can expect a smooth and comfortable experience.

Please note: These instructions apply to your future surgical appointment, not your consultation.

New Patient Forms

Completing your forms before your appointment allows our team to streamline your visit and get a better idea of how we can serve you.

Financial Information

We believe in upfront, transparent communication about the costs associated with your treatment. During your consultation, we’ll review the estimated amount, taking insurance and financing into consideration, so you know exactly what to expect.
